We all know the story of Musa (AS) and Pharaoh, but what if I told you it’s not just history? Imagine the Red Sea crashing in, and Pharaoh, in his final breath, realizing he messed up. He says:
“Now I submit to the Lord of Musa!”
And Allah responds: “Now? After all these warnings? No, it’s too late.”
You may think, “How is this relevant to me today?” But what if Pharaoh’s story is a reflection of our own lives? This is what we’re diving into today through the powerful name of Allah: Al-Mutakabbir (The Supreme, The Greatest).
Inside each of us, there lives “Musa AS” and “Pharaoh”, that is, Ruh and Ego – battling every single moment of every single day.
Those waves of the Nile crushing down is Death – our last breath on Earth.
So it is not Denial – some people think Denial is just a river in Egypt. 🙂
The Three States of Being: Where Do You Stand?
At any given moment, we are in one of these three states:
1. Arrogance – “I am better than everyone.”
2. Doubt – “I am not good enough.”
3. Confidence in Allah – “I trust in Allah, and I am enough.”
Too many of us live like we will never die – chasing power, wealth, or approval, until the waves of death reach us. Others are stuck in fear and self-doubt, too paralyzed to take action.
But the solution? The middle path. The balance. The confidence that comes from trusting in Allah (SWT).
The Origin of Arrogance: Iblis vs. Adam (AS)
To understand arrogance, we must go back to the first being who exhibited it.
When Allah (SWT) created Adam (AS), He commanded all to bow.
Iblis refused.
He said: “I am better than him!”
His arrogance – EGO – led to his downfall.
But Allah believes in humanity. Those who submit, obey, and strive in His way become the greatest of all creation. They live with purpose, serve others, and align their will with Allah (SWT).
So the real question is: What side are you on? Will you live arrogantly, in doubt, or with the confidence that Allah is greater than every obstacle in your life?
The Cure for Arrogance and Doubt
There’s a simple cure for both arrogance and self-doubt:
Allahu Akbar – God is Greater.
Greater than your fears.
Greater than your ego.
Greater than your struggles.
Every day, in every Salah, we remind ourselves: Allah is greater than anything we face. This is the path to true confidence, not in ourselves alone, but in Allah’s power over our lives.
