3 / 99 Al Malik – Story of Sulaiman AS / King Solomon

Have you ever stood in awe of the vastness of the universe? The stars, the galaxies, and the sheer magnitude of creation? Imagine the One who owns it all—the true King, Al-Malik.

Today, let’s reflect on what it means for Allah to be The King and Owner of Dominion.

Story

There’s a beautiful moment in the Quran where Allah reminds us of His supreme ownership and power:

‘Say, O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent.’
(Quran 3:26)

Think about this: Everything we own, everything we achieve—our wealth, power, even our very lives—belongs to Allah. Yet, as humans, we often feel a false sense of control.

Imagine a king in this world. Even the greatest king has limits—his rule ends at borders, his time on the throne is temporary, and his wealth can disappear in an instant. Now contrast that with Al-Malik, the One who owns not just the earth, but the entire universe. His reign has no limits, His power never diminishes, and His dominion is eternal.

Meaning and Context

Al-Malik means The King, The Sovereign, The Absolute Ruler. He is the One who has complete authority over all creation—every atom, every soul, every corner of existence.

When we say Al-Malik, we acknowledge that everything we have is a trust from Him. He is the true owner, and we are simply caretakers for a short time. This realization should humble us and remind us to use what we’ve been given in ways that please Him.

Practical Reflection

How does understanding Al-Malik change the way we live?

1. It reminds us to be humble—no matter how much wealth, power, or influence we accumulate, it all belongs to Allah.

2. It teaches us gratitude—everything we have is a gift from the true King.

3. It inspires trust—when life feels overwhelming, remember that Allah, Al-Malik, is in control of everything. Nothing happens without His permission, and His plan is always for the best.

Dua: Connecting to Al-Malik

O Allah, Al-Malik, The King and Owner of Dominion, we acknowledge that everything belongs to You. Grant us humility to use Your blessings wisely, gratitude for what You have entrusted to us, and trust in Your supreme plan. Help us to always remember that You are the true King, and guide us to live as Your loyal servants. Ameen.
